DANCE – a global consensus on the definition, acronyms, nomenclature, and classification of angioedema

Currently, several classifications and several different names, acronyms / abbreviations for the same angioedema type are being used. This makes it difficult to compare the results of studies, to develop multicenter studies, and to harmonize the care for patients with angioedema. A global consensus on the definition and classification of angioedema as well as its nomenclature including acronyms and abbreviations for angioedema types and subtypes is needed.

The aim of this ACARE/GA²LEN/EAACI/APAAACI/AAAAI/ACAAI/HAEi project will be to establish a global consensus on the definition, acronyms, nomenclature, and classification of angioedema (DANCE). To this end, an international steering committee will put together an expert panel and conduct a Delphi process to establish consensus. This project is open for ACARE members as well as non-ACARE members.
